What is Mind?

What is Mind?

We Are of Two Minds

1)      The Conceptual Mind

And

2)      The True Mind.

The Conceptual Mind

Thinks and visualises, remembers and imagines. It is this mind that holds all our thoughts and beliefs and memories, and that seems to live in our brains 🧠.

The conceptual mind, or thinking mind, is what we refer to when we feel confused, doubtful or unsure. “Foggy" or “cloudy” is referring to this expression of mind that seems to be synonymous with our head and brains.

But there is a second expression of mind- to which the word also refers. I call this, the true mind.

True Mind

Lives within every cell of our body, and the space between every cell in our body. It is not localised in one place, but like an air that flows throughout the body. It exists at the subtle level of the energy and the gross level of the physical body, and thoughts. True mind is not fixed in physical space- it does not belong to one particular organ. AND it is not fixed in physical time. (Discussed in further blogs about Intuition).

To understand this, it is best conveyed with an analogy.

The Analogy of the Glass Jar

Think of an empty glass jar with a golden metal lid. What is inside the glass jar?

...

Air.

...

What is outside of the glass jar? 🫙

...

Air.

...

So what is the difference between inside the glass jar and outside of it?

...

Nothing. It is the glass jar itself that separates the air from what is outside of it. But what happens when you take off the lid?

Even just to unscrew the lid slightly would be to allow some air to escape from the inside, and some air to enter from the outside. And if you removed the lid entirely, the air would flow seamlessly from outside the jar to inside the jar, like a continual, unbroken current of air.

This is True Mind.

True Mind is not belonging to any form. Just like the air does not belong to the jar, the mind does not belong to the body. It flows throughout the body. And flows outside of the body too, connected to everything simultaneously. Within and around everything.

When a person is able to lift the lid that caps their mind in their bodies, it is like a ceiling of identity is lifted and you are freer for reconnecting with what you really are.

This I think is very important to depression and intuition. It is the True Mind that we really are, not our thinking mind.
